Bylaws, Outposts Updates, and What They Mean for You

A lot has changed in recent weeks as we all learn about how to do life during the COVID-19 pandemic. Work Nicer is paying close attention to what we need to do as a community and following guidelines of government and public health officials.

This message provides an update as to what these instructions mean for all of us at Work Nicer outposts.

When You Arrive at the Outposts!

The iPad Check-in is back!

As always, it’s very important, A.K.A. mandatory, that all visitors check in to the iPad during every visit. Please remind your guests to check-in at all outposts using the iPad by the entrance. The updated iPad Check-in will notify you when your guests arrive and send your guests a text message with instructions to access WiFi. Additionally, the iPad check-in integrates the existing health questionnaire. Only guests are required to complete the health questionnaire.

As a reminder, if Work Nicer is informed of a member or visitor testing positive for COVID-19, we will only release this information under the direction of Alberta Health Services.

Face Coverings

As of August 1, 2020, the Temporary Face Coverings Bylaw is active. Current face-covering bylaws in Calgary and Edmonton do not require the wearing of face coverings while at Work Nicer outposts. However, face coverings ARE required in building common areas like building lobbies and elevators under these bylaws. Please prepare accordingly when arriving at outposts with these shared areas.

Although the wearing of face coverings inside Work Nicer outposts is not mandatory, Alberta Health Services encourages the use of face coverings where physical distancing is difficult or impossible. You are encouraged and welcomed to wear them as you wish!

You will be asked to return to Work Nicer another day if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • fever
  • new onset of cough or worsening of chronic cough
  • new or worsening shortness of breath
  • new or worsening difficulty breathing
  • sore throat
  • runny nose

If you have any of the symptoms above, you are not permitted at any Work Nicer outposts. More information on all COVID-19 symptoms can be found on the Alberta Health Services website.

Distancing Measures Where You Work and Meet

You’ll notice that the team has reduced the capacity of gathering areas and meeting rooms. Chairs,  tables, and lounges have been physically distanced, so please leave furniture where it is. You’ll also notice half-circles on the ground throughout the outposts. Use these visual markers to create distance for yourself and others. We know that members will continue to be respectful and patient with markers and boundaries that assist in meeting separation requirements.

Keeping Work Nicer Clean

Work Nicer consists of amazing, considerate professionals who do their part to keep the outposts clean. In addition to the regular cleanings completed by Work Nicer and the cleaning team, there are some things that all members need to do day-to-day.

Handwashing and Sanitizing
In addition to physical distancing, authorities tell us that handwashing and sanitizing are the best ways to limit the spread of COVID-19. In addition to handwashing stations at all sinks, please use hand sanitizer and wipes that are distributed appropriately at Work Nicer outposts. Please don’t move or remove them because that’s mean.

Cutlery, Dishes and Dishwasher Use
Not to repeat ourselves too often, but please load your dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Leaving dishes in the sink means someone else has to clean up after you. If this dishwasher is full, grab a dishwasher tablet from under the sink and follow the instructions to run the dishwasher. If there are clean dishes, please empty the dishwasher.

Keeping a clean kitchen is important since no one wants to clean up after someone else. If this community cannot accomplish this together the Work Nicer team will explore the possibility of removing shared kitchen supplies.

Thank you and keep safe!

As a continued practice, if you’re feeling sick, take care of yourself and others by staying home and take the Alberta Health Services Self-Assessment online tool.

We can’t thank you enough for your continued support and all your efforts as you participate in the protection of your community. We are all in this together because, as always, No One Succeeds Alone. When we are respectful, patient, and diligent, we will support the health and safety of every member. Please continue to reach out if you have any questions and stay tuned for exciting things the team is working on.

If you have questions at all, please reach out to [email protected]

See you soon!
